2026 Mazda CX-5 Rocks Its New Infotainment System – “One of the best”

March 12th, 2026 by

The 2026 Mazda CX-5, now at Schomp Mazda, is a showcase for Mazda’s technological wizardry. Its new infotainment system is making waves in the automotive world.

“…this is one of the best systems we’ve seen from a so-called legacy automaker. The graphics render crisp and beautiful on the display, responses to inputs are quick and animations smooth. Pinch and zoom gestures work just like they do on your phone.” Motor Trend.

“Its infotainment controls are a massive improvement that freed me to appreciate the SUV’s handling and style.” USA Today

“Normally we don’t get excited about more touchscreens these days. But the one that appears in the CX-5’s updated interior is nothing short of momentous for the model and the brand, as it brings the SUV up to date with the best in the category in terms of multimedia interaction.” Cars.com

So, what is it about this new infotainment system that makes it worth such raves? Among other things, it has a 12.9” touchscreen (15.6” in the top trim Premium Plus). It uses the latest Google-based multimedia system, which means that it sports the familiar Google icons and easy access to the Google Play store as well as navigation with Google maps. The CX-5’s voice controls are easy to use, especially with Gemini, Google’s AI assistant. Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ are available wirelessly except on the lowest trim level, which requires plugging in. We’ve been very impressed with it, and we know our customers will be, too.

Infotainment is not the only great thing about the new 2026 Mazda CX-5. It’s still sleekly styled, making it a standout in the compact SUV crowd. It’s also 4.5 inches longer and slightly wider making it roomier inside. Cargo space expands to 33.7 cubic feet behind the rear seat and 66.5 cf with the rear seat folded. Rear doors open almost 90 degrees, for easier entry and exit.

All-wheel drive is now standard across the five trims (CX-5 S, S Select, S Preferred, S Premium and S Premium Plus), as is the 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, which offers 187 hp. Fuel economy is EPA-estimated at 24 mpg city/30 highway/26 combined.

The 2026 Mazda CX-5 is equipped with i-ACTIVESENSE® safety technology including the new Advanced Driver Assistance System. BTW – Mazda is rated overall as the safest car brand in America by Consumer Reports
